Sachuest Point and Other Wonders

Only a few posts so far, although we walk Sachuest and its surrounding beaches hundreds of times a year. More to come.

Snowy

Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge had another short visit from a snowy owl, the second such visit this winter. She had a two day layover in December at the refuge, was just passing through we think and has not been spotted since she was hanging around Island Rocks. She left before the paparazzi showed up.

Scoters, Eiders, and other Wonders

Musings on winter walks and sights. “There are some who can live without wild things, and some who cannot. For us of the minority, the opportunity to see geese is more important than television.” Aldo Leopold, A Sand County Almanac

Hospitality

Occasionally there are some surprises in a volunteer job in a beautiful place. The pay is nothing, but the benefits are great.
